Katy and Lulu - work in progress

I have completed Katy's face today. I will do some more work on this pet portrait today, but I thought I would show you this small update:

Today I have been drawing some more of Katy and Lulu's pet portrait. So far I have been concentrating on Katy. Here is the latest update:

Katy and Lulu take 2

Katy and Lulu's pet portrait has been started again, due to their owner being unhappy with the original. Here are two work in progress photographs. The first one has been darkened considerably to show the outline.

Animal Art Protection League

It has come to the attention recently of an artist who is a member of the pet portrait forum that their artwork was being reproduced by chinese artists then being sold as prints on ebay, without their permission.

This was discussed on the forum and a number of other artists had suffered from similar problems so a group of us have formed the Animal Art Protection League, which is basically us all keeping an eye out for other artists' artwork being used illegally across the internet.

Work in progress - Taylor

I have been working on Taylor's portrait today. Taylor is a little Terrier cross and is having a 10" x 12" coloured pencil portrait.

Shadow - new pet portrait

I have started a new coloured pencil pet portrait today. This is Shadow who is a Staffy cross Collie. The pet portrait is 12" x 16".

Chacho update

I have done some more work on Chacho this afternoon due to his owner advising there was actually more colour on his face and the original photographs had been slightly over-exposed. I have now been given some photographs taken in natural light. Here he is now:

Commission anouncement

Some of you may have noticed on my website that I am not currently accepting orders for commissions. This is due to changes that mean my time working on pet portraits will be limited. This will make it harder to meet customer deadlines and offer reasonable lead times.

Obviously, the pet portraits I currently have on my waiting list won't be affected.

I will still be working on my artwork. With no commissions any time I do have will be spent developing my own portfolio and hopefully learning new mediums, so there will still be updates on the blog and I will also keep my website online, as I may well return to commissions at a later date.
