Pet Portrait Update

Here is an update on the current commission that I am working on, a Cavalier Spaniel in graphite pencil. I did one of her ears today, Spaniel ears always take a long time to do but are very rewarding when they are finished! She will have both her ears done in the next couple of days...

Latest Pet Portrait

Here is a work in progress from a current coloured pencil commission. It is a 12" x 16" pet portrait and the two gorgeous subjects are Beth and Holly.

Springer Spaniel Portrait

Have just realised I didn't upload the final scan of the Coloured Pencil Portrait of Dylan, the Springer Spaniel. My client asked for a small change, so here is the final final scan....

I am currently working on another coloured pencil painting - this time of an Arabian Horse - updates are being added on the Laura's Pet Portraits Facebook Page.

Completed Springer Spaniel Portrait

Dylan, the Springer Spaniel, is now complete. I have had great fun drawing this gorgeous dog, Springers are one of my favourite breeds and depsite the difficult ears I do enjoy having them as subjects.

Anyway, here is Dylan:

Another Springer Spaniel Update

I have been working on the Springer Spaniel coloured pencil portrait today of the gorgeous Dylan. I have started the hard part today - his ears. I still find Spaniel ears difficult but at the same time, the achievment when they're done is very rewarding too! One of Dylan's is now nearly finished:

Dylan has two eyes!

Have been working on Dylan the Springer Spaniel's portrait again today - he now has two eyes!

I have also very slightly changed his nose on the left hand side, it's been annoying me since I first drew it and I think I've finally got it right now.

Springer Spaniel Update

Here is an update on my current Pet Portrait in coloured pencil of a Springer Spaniel. Apologies for the delay in postings - I am currently battling with a very tempermental internet connection!



There will be more updates on both my current pet portraits on Monday...

New Coloured Pencil Portrait

I started a new Pet Portrait today. This is an 8" x 10" Coloured Pencil portrait of a very gorgeous Springer Spaniel, who, as you know by now, are one of my favourite breeds of dog.

Here is the initial outline:

Completed Dressage Horse

Have now finished the drawing of the dressage horse. Have really enjoyed doing this one and am pretty pleased with how it turned out.

It's now all framed and ready to go in the post. As I said before it's a donation for an equestrian workshop event happening at Thurso College on Sunday 13th March.

Here is the finished drawing. It's 10" x 12" in graphite pencil.

Latest Pet Portrait

Here is my latest Pet Portrait commission, a 10" x 12" graphite portrait of a lovely collie named Molly.

Apologies for the quality of the image, it was taken in bad lighting and I'm not intelligent enough to work out how to use imaging software to whiten the backgrounds!

My next project is another Molly, this time a Cavalier Spaniel and a horse portrait. Updates coming soon.

This is another portrait I am currently working on. It is a montage of a Springer Spaniel, one of my favourite breeds of dog. This is the first montage I have done and I think the little pictures are going to be a challenge!

Pet Portrait update

Here is the latest update on my current Pet Portrait of Hector, the Golden Retriever. This will be finished this week, so more updates soon.

What's coming next...

As I have now finished my current commission, (pending comments from the customer of course!), I thought I might share what I've got on the drawing board.

I have a large coloured pencil commission with full background coming up. It's of a Golden Retriever which are one of my favourite breeds of dog ever. I need to get down the craft shop and buy a new drawing pad before I start that one though, as I have run out of paper!

As well as that, I have some Christmas piccies to work on, with a ratty theme! I have been asked, and of course accepted, to do some rat piccies that can be used for Christmas cards. They are for the Scottish Rat Club and the Yorkshire Rat Club, but both clubs will have different pictures provided, so both clubs will benefit from exclusive images (doesn't that sound posh!). I am also planning on doing some general pics that can be used for blank cards too, but Christmas comes first!

Facebook

I decided to go for it and create a Facebook business page for the Laura's Pet Portraits. The page is here: Laura's Pet Portraits on Facebook and you may notice the little button thing in the sidebar of the blog, this will also take you to the page.

So far it just has the galleries on it, but it will be updated with any new work I do. I am a bit overwhelmed at all the comments from my friends as I'm not good at telling people what I can do, some of them didn't even know I could draw!! And I've had three people ask about prices, so who knows, maybe it will prove a useful thing to do.
