Katy and Lulu - new graphite portrait

Here is the latest graphite pencil pet portrait that I am currently working on. It is of a labrador retriever and a cat and is 16" x 20". Here is the whole portrait - I had to darken it so the outline would show up.

Here is a close-up of Katy's face

Coloured pencil portrait

Here is a scan of one of the pet portraits I am currently working on. It's a 10" x 12" coloured pencil pet portrait of a corgi / collie cross called Chacho.

It's been fun getting back to the coloured pencils as most of my recent commissions have been in graphite and Chacho has such gorgeous colouring. I've also recently purchased some new coloursoft pencils in different colours so I now have the full range of browns and golds which I think helps create richer colours rather than gaving to mix them, which sometimes makes them a bit 'muddy'.

Rottweiler portrait completed

I have now completed Darcy the Rottweiler's pet portrait. I really enjoyed this one - I like anything I can get the 7b and 8b pencils out for.

Rottweiler Pet Portrait

Here is another Pet Portrait I have recently started. I like to do several portraits at a time, however this one is also a bit of a last-minute one. It is a 10" x 12 graphite pet portrait of a Rotweiler named Darcy.

New galleries

As I said yesterday I have just created two new galleries. The first one is for pairs and group pet portraits. I decided to put these separate as I have now done five so there's enough for the gallery not to look too empty and I think if a customer is looking for a group portrait this will give them a quicker way of looking at previous relevant commissions.

The second gallery is for people and pets, which so far only has one portrait in! I thought is was worth putting this by itself though as it will make it more obvious from the first gallery page that a portrait with a person in is an option. People and pets together is something I want to concentrate on in my own non-commission work so hopefully there will be some original artwork to go in there too.

Here are the new galleries if you want to take a look:

Website updates

I have finally got round to doing some updates on my website. I had 10 new pet portraits to add to the gallery from Christmas commissions and the couple I have done since. I am in the process of creating a couple of new gallery pages, which I will be able to upload tomorrow but in the meantime here are the updated galleries:

Completed Pet Portrait

Here is my latest completed Pet Portrait. It is of a Jack Russel cross and is a 5" x 7" Graphite pencil piece. I enjoyed doing this as it grew so quickly compared to my usual portraits. I wouldn't have normally recommended a dog portrait on such a small size but I think it turned out really well and am looking forward to another one coming up shortly of a cat on the same size. Here is Teddy:

I also want to give you an update on the recently completed 'Westie' portrait. The customer has told me that Punchie is in fact a Lucus Terrier, which is a cross between a Sealyham and a Norfolk Terrier.
